Semarang – The Vocational School of Diponegoro University (Undip) continues to strengthen its commitment to becoming a world-class educational institution by taking concrete steps to expand its international network. One such step was the visit of eight lecturers from the Applied Foreign Language Study Program and the Public Relations and Information Study Program of Undip to Thailand from November 26-30, 2024.

This visit is part of Undip’s efforts to develop its vision of becoming a global university by strengthening academic and research collaborations internationally. During the visit, the Undip Vocational School team was warmly received by Dr. Pittayatorn Kaewkong, Dean of the International College of Thaksin University. Both parties agreed to collaborate in areas including lecture visits, student exchanges, and research collaboration, which will be formalized in an official agreement in 2025.

In addition to visiting Thaksin University, the Undip team also toured the Folklore Museum managed by the university, and initiated collaboration with the Volunteer Spirit Association (VSA) Thailand, an NGO focused on volunteer activities. This visit opened up broader collaboration opportunities, particularly in the area of sustainable community service programs.

The Undip delegation, which included prominent lecturers such as Dr. Sri Indrahti, M.Hum (Head of the Department of Information and Culture), Fitri Alfarisy, S.Pd., M.Hum (Coordinator of the International Affairs Office of the Vocational School), and Aditya Nur Patria, S.Hum., M.App.Ling. (Head of the Applied Foreign Language Study Program), also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with VSA Thailand. This MoA aims to strengthen collaboration in student exchange, joint research, and the development of community service programs.

Additionally, the Undip team had the opportunity to visit community service projects run by VSA Thailand, gaining valuable insights that can be implemented at Undip. It is hoped that this collaboration will create positive synergies, drive innovation, and enhance the quality of the programs run by both institutions.

Alfarisy, as the Coordinator of the International Affairs Office of the Vocational School, stated that international activities will continue to be developed to broaden Undip’s network on the global stage. “Through this collaboration, we hope to open more opportunities for the development of academic competencies and community service programs that are more relevant to global needs,” she said.

This visit marks the beginning of a stronger and more sustainable collaboration in the future, which will ultimately make a significant contribution to the development of higher education and community service in both countries. The Vocational School of Undip is increasingly ready to solidify its position as a world-class educational institution by strengthening international connections.
