Dean of UNDIP Vocational School Emphasizes Integrity and Professionalism at BEM First Gathering

Semarang, March 11, 2026 — The Dean of the Vocational School of Universitas Diponegoro emphasized the importance of integrity and professionalism for student leaders during the First Gathering of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Vocational School, held at Prof. Sudarto Hall, Universitas Diponegoro, on Wednesday (March 11).

In his remarks, the Dean expressed appreciation to students who are willing to take responsibility as members of the student organization. According to him, participation in student organizations is an important part of developing leadership skills during university life.

“Not every student is willing to take the responsibility of organizational leadership. When students choose to serve in BEM, it means they choose to learn how to lead, how to take responsibility, and how to contribute to others,” he said.

The Dean also highlighted that student organizations serve as a laboratory of leadership, where students can develop essential skills such as teamwork, communication, program management, and problem-solving.

During the event, the Dean delivered two key values that should guide the activities of student organizations: integrity and professionalism. These values are part of the character development program at the UNDIP Vocational School known as Vocational Integrity and Professional Development (VIP-Dev).

He explained that integrity is reflected in honesty, responsibility, and consistency between words and actions. Within student organizations, integrity can be demonstrated through commitment to responsibilities, maintaining trust, and upholding the reputation of the organization.

Meanwhile, professionalism means carrying out responsibilities with proper standards, careful planning, and a strong sense of accountability. By practicing professionalism, student organizations can go beyond organizing activities and instead create meaningful impact for students and the broader academic community.

At the end of his remarks, the Dean emphasized that success in the future is not determined solely by knowledge and technical skills, but also by strong character.

Knowledge makes us smart, skills make us capable, but integrity and professionalism make us trusted,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Zahran Ahmad Muyassar, President of the Student Executive Board of the UNDIP Vocational School, expressed his commitment that the organization will strive to deliver meaningful contributions both to fellow students and to society.

“We hope that the presence of BEM of the UNDIP Vocational School can bring benefits not only to fellow students but also to the wider community,” Zahran stated.

The First Gathering is expected to strengthen the role of student organizations within the Vocational School as a platform for leadership development that upholds integrity, professionalism, and social impact.
