The P2K3 Team of the Vocational School of Diponegoro University Conducts a Disaster Response Evacuation and Fire Extinguishing Simulation at the Teaching Factory Building

The building emergency response simulation held on Monday, November 17, 2025, ran smoothly at the Teaching Factory (TEFA) Building of the Vocational School, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) Semarang. This activity was initiated by the Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Committee (P2K3) of the UNDIP Vocational School and the Integrated Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Service Unit (UPT-K3L) of UNDIP. The simulation served as a realization of efforts to increase preparedness for emergency situations within the campus environment.

In this simulation, the evacuation procedures focused on handling disaster and fire scenarios throughout the floors of the TEFA Building, which houses facilities and academic activities of the Vocational School. Participants—including Vocational School P2K3 officers and UNDIP K3L personnel, students, education staff, and lecturers—were given scenarios resembling real conditions to assess their ability to respond to hazardous situations.

During the exercise, participants practiced multi-story building evacuation methods and various firefighting techniques, ranging from using wet burlap sacks to operating light fire extinguishers (APAR). Quick and precise handling was emphasized given the high fire risk present in laboratory environments.

In addition, the simulation included evacuation stages, disaster response team coordination, and communication procedures among relevant parties. Through this activity, participants were able to improve their skills and teamwork in responding more effectively to emergency situations.

The Dean of the Vocational School of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the event. “This simulation is very important for enhancing the preparedness of the entire academic community. We want to ensure that the UNDIP community can respond quickly and appropriately when facing emergency situations,” he stated.

This activity is expected to serve as a foundation for conducting similar drills regularly in the future so that the entire UNDIP community becomes increasingly prepared to face potential emergency conditions.
