UNDIP Holds 2025 Summer Course for Seven Days, Chinese Students Participate in Academic, Industrial, and Cultural Programs

Semarang – The Department of Industrial Technology, Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), successfully held the 2025 Summer Course program for seven days, from November 12 to 18, 2025. A total of 25 students and four accompanying lecturers from Jiangsu Shipping College China (JSSC) participated in a series of activities that combined academic learning, industrial visits, and cultural exploration.

The program opened with a lively ceremony featuring traditional performances such as Tari Lenggang Nyai, Dendang Kidendang, and Geol Denok. In her report, the Committee Chair, Dr. Sri Utami Handayani, stated that this Summer School was designed to provide hands-on experience regarding industrial technology in Indonesia. Remarks from the Dean of the Vocational School of UNDIP and JSSC representative Mr. Xie Jun reinforced the commitment of both institutions to strengthening international collaboration. The opening ceremony also included the signing of an MoU as the foundation for broader cooperation in the future.

During the academic activities, students received materials from lecturers of the Department of Industrial Technology, UNDIP, covering ship technology, resistance and propulsion, non-metal materials, and the development of the shipbuilding industry in Indonesia. Lecturers such as Dr. Moh Ridwan, M. Sawal Baital, S.T., M.T., Dr. Aulia Windyandari, and Dr. Zulfaidah Ariany delivered lectures combined with case studies and industry insights, enabling participants to better understand the context of Indonesia’s maritime technology. Lecturers from JSSC also contributed perspectives on developments in navigation, ship architecture, and intelligent manufacturing in China.

One of the key agendas in this program was the industrial visit to Pelindo. There, participants directly learned about modern port operations, including ship flow management, loading and unloading systems, and port logistics technologies. This visit was a highlight as it provided real insight into how Indonesia’s maritime infrastructure is managed and adapts to the dynamics of international trade.

In addition to Pelindo, participants also conducted an educational visit to the Indonesian State Maritime Polytechnic (Polimarin). At Polimarin, students received presentations and toured facilities to learn about Indonesia’s maritime education technology, ranging from navigation and marine engineering to sea safety systems. This visit offered a comparative perspective on maritime vocational education between Indonesia and China.

The series of activities was further enriched with a campus tour of various teaching factories and flagship laboratories of UNDIP Vocational School, including the Teaching Factory Manufacture (RPM), TRKI & Voca Water, Automation Engineering Technology (TRO), and Industrial Electrical Engineering (TLI). Participants were also invited to explore Semarang’s cultural destinations such as Kota Lama, Lawang Sewu, and Sam Poo Kong to experience the city’s history and culture firsthand.

Throughout the seven-day program, participants gained comprehensive exposure to industrial technology, the dynamics of Indonesian vocational education, cultural interaction, and maritime industry insights. The 2025 Summer School program is expected to open doors for continued collaboration between UNDIP and educational institutions in China, including opportunities for student exchanges, international internships, and joint research collaborations.
