Documentation of UMKM Practitioner Research Synergy Activities with Academics of the UNDIP Vocational School

Undergraduate Program in Applied Management & Logistics Administration, Diponegoro University Vocational School in collaboration with the Directorate General of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education & Culture held an event “Joint Industry Discussion # Series1” on October 20, 2020 in the Simpang Lima Semarang area. The activity with the theme, “The Importance of Information Technology Capability and Organizational Learning in Organizational Performance for SMEs in Semarang City”, is part of a series of Vocational Higher Education Strengthening Program (P3TV).

The event which was attended by Semarang City UMKM Practitioners and Diponegoro University Academic Lecturers raised two results of industrial-based applied research presented by Dr. Drs. Mashudi, SE, MM and Jatmika Prajayastanda, S.Pt, MBA. Both of them are Lecturers of S1 Logistics Management & Administration in the Vocational School of Diponegoro University.

The first study entitled “The Importance of Information Technology Capability and Organizational Learning in Organizational Performance for SMEs in Semarang City” was explained by Dr. Drs Mashudi, SE, MM as speakers. The results of this quantitative study indicate that Information Technology Capability has a significant effect on Organizational Performance.

Jatmika Prajayastanda, S.Pt, MBA, as the second presenter, with the title “Wemarry Integrated Marriage Website Platform Business Model Formulation”, explained the results of his research which shows that the wedding service event organizer business is very suitable to be a solution in the Covid-19 pandemic such as when This, considering that the wedding business needs innovation with various restrictions on psychological distancing.

These two applied researches received positive responses and reviews from the Chairman of the Semarang Chamber of Commerce and Industry who is also the Director of PT Nasindo Anugrah Sejati, Arnaz Agung Andrarasmara. He stated that these two applied researches are very important, as a good collaboration between the world of education which researches various studies from an academic scientific perspective with the industrial world from a practical perspective. This is especially important considering that MSME actors need to strengthen competence, consistency, adaptation, innovation, and mastery of technology.

Titik Djumiarti, S.Sos, M.Si, as the Secretary of the Logistics Management & Administration Undergraduate Study Program, Vocational School, Diponegoro University, hopes that this activity can strengthen applied research, thus creating a link and match between the world of education and industry, as well as provide mutual benefit to each other. Discussions with industry through the presentation of the results of applied research can contribute, both to MSMEs and academics in the development of advanced applied research.
