SEMARANG – In an effort to enhance professionalism, lecturers at the Vocational School (SV) of Diponegoro University (Undip) have been provided with occupational safety and health (K3) expert certification. This certification program is a testament to strengthening the academic capabilities and professionalism of lecturers within SV Undip.

Prof. Dr. Budiyono, Dean of the Vocational School at Undip, announced that 30 lecturers and educational staff successfully passed the General K3 Expert certification, organized by PT Delta Indonesia Pranenggar in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower. This certification is expected to be a strategic step in building the competence of SV Undip lecturers and staff, both individually and institutionally.

“With this training, we hope that lecturers will play an active role in creating and implementing a better Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3), in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Manpower,” said Prof. Budiyono during a speech at the Tembalang Campus. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to safety and health standards in the operation of equipment, technicians, and operators, as stipulated by the applicable regulations.

The General K3 Expert certification establishes professionals with expertise in occupational safety and health. They are responsible for ensuring that the work environment is safe and complies with the established safety standards. The training and competency tests took place over one month, conducted both online and offline, covering various subjects such as building construction, electrical installations, escalators and elevators, and fire prevention.

In addition, participants studied K3 in the mechanical sector, steam boilers, and pressure vessels, as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3), institutional structures, and expertise in workplace environments, hazardous materials, and occupational health. This certification program is expected to strengthen the commitment of lecturers and educational staff in maintaining workplace safety and improving the quality of education services at SV Undip.
