Semarang Students of the Applied Undergraduate Study Program of Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology (TRKI), Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), have again made a brilliant achievement in the international arena. In the 2025 Jakarta International Science Fair (JISF), two Kayovoks Chem-E-Car research community teams won two Gold Medals in Engineering and Environmental Science.

Environmentally Friendly Pneumatic Car Innovation
The first team, Kayovoks Ramayana, won the Gold Medal in the Engineering category with an innovation titled “Advancing Green Automotive Prototypes: Chemical Reaction-Driven Oxygen Generation and Pneumatic Propulsion.” This team developed a Chem-E-Car that moves using oxygen pressure from the decomposition reaction of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) with a potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) catalyst. The oxygen is used to drive the pneumatic system without producing emissions, making this car an alternative environmentally friendly vehicle.

The team members consist of:
Akhmad Surya Adi Maulana
Muhammad Zidan Fadilah
Devano Gothicardo
Rizki Ananda
Ilyas Nur Hidayat
Hamaz Al-Fauzan

Electric Car Based on Aluminum-Air Battery
Meanwhile, the IO-Kayovoks Team won the Gold Medal in the Environmental Science category with a work entitled “The Potential of Aluminum-Air Batteries as a Green Energy Source: Design and Implementation in an Electric Vehicle Car Application.” This team created an electric car based on Aluminum-Air batteries with high energy density, zero emissions, and an automatic stopping system based on iodine clock reaction and laser sensors to improve vehicle safety and efficiency.

Team members:
Maya Qisthina Gaissani (Ketua)
Maeza Dhenta Purniawan
Mochammad Wibisono Faizun Sunarko
M. Dio Pratama
David Auza Sitanggang
Inas Taqiyyah

The success of these two teams cannot be separated from the guidance of the supervising lecturer, Abdullah Malik Islam Fillardli, S.T., M.T., who accompanied the students through the research process and experiments to write scientific papers. Appreciation was also given to the UNDIP Vocational School and the Teaching Factory Laboratory, the centers for developing research and technological innovation. Full support from this institution is an essential foundation for students to create globally competitive work.

Head of the TRKI Study Program, Mohamad Endy Julianto, expressed his gratitude for this achievement. “This achievement is real proof that vocational students’ innovation and inventions cannot only compete at the national level but are also recognized internationally. Hopefully, the spirit of research and innovation in the TRKI environment will continue to grow and provide real contributions to society,” said Endy.

With this achievement, Kayovoks Chem-E-Car UNDIP is increasingly positioning itself as a pioneer in environmentally friendly vehicle innovation in Indonesia, as well as being an inspiration for the younger generation to continue to work and present real solutions for a sustainable future.
