About the Vocational School of Diponegoro University
The Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) is one of Indonesia’s leading institutions of applied higher education, strengthening its transformation as a World-Class Vocational School through excellence in applied education, industry engagement, innovation, character development, and sustainable development.
At the Vocational School of UNDIP, vocational education is not viewed merely as the process of delivering knowledge and technical skills. Instead, it is designed to create Real-World Impact—delivering meaningful contributions to industry, business, communities, the environment, and sustainable development at the local, national, and global levels. We believe that the success of vocational education should be measured not only by academic quality and graduate employability, but also by the tangible value and positive change it creates for society.
In strengthening its transformation as a World-Class Vocational School, the Vocational School has developed the Vocational Excellence Ecosystem 2030, a comprehensive strategic framework that integrates academic excellence, applied research, industry collaboration, innovation, global employability, character development, international visibility, and sustainability into a unified ecosystem. Through this framework, the Vocational School continuously strengthens its institutional capacity, prepares graduates who are professionally competent, innovative, adaptable, ethical, and globally competitive, while creating Real-World Impact for industry, business, society, and sustainable development at both national and global levels.
Supporting this transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) serves as a Strategic Enabler, strengthening learning, student services, institutional governance, innovation, digital media, and global career development. Rather than being an end in itself, AI is positioned as a technology that empowers people, enhances institutional performance, accelerates innovation, and expands the impact of vocational education.
The Vocational School currently offers 11 Applied Bachelor’s Degree Programs organized under four academic departments: the Department of Industrial Technology, the Department of Civil Engineering and Planning, the Department of Business and Finance, and the Department of Information and Culture. All academic programs are designed using a modern vocational education approach that integrates classroom learning with professional practice through strong industry partnerships, applied projects, internships, national and international professional certifications, and Teaching Factory-based learning.
To strengthen experiential learning, the Vocational School has developed an Integrated Teaching Factory Ecosystem that connects education, applied research, innovation, professional services, digital transformation, and career development. This ecosystem includes a wide range of specialized centers and platforms such as the Artificial Intelligence Technology and Engineering Center (AI-TEC), Automation and Robotics Development Center (ARDC), Vocational Tax Corner (VTC), Investment Gallery, Vocalite, VocaLink, BIM Center, COSPLAY (Center for Spatial Planning and Survey), Vocational Language Center (VLC), Voca Migrant Corner (VMC), VokaMedia, VOCA TV, and various other strategic learning and innovation facilities.
The Vocational School has also established AI-TEC as its Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence to accelerate AI implementation across vocational education. AI-TEC develops AI-powered solutions that enhance learning experiences, institutional governance, student services, digital media, and global career development. Current innovations include Halo Dekan, AI-based document management systems (Sirani and Sinora), the ELIXA Large Language Model (LLM) for learning support, and the PERISAI Agentic AI Platform.
To systematically create Real-World Impact, the Vocational School has developed the Vocational Excellence Ecosystem 2030, consisting of seven interconnected strategic ecosystems:
- Academic Excellence Ecosystem
- Industry Engagement Ecosystem
- Global Employability Ecosystem
- Character Development Ecosystem
- Innovation and Applied Research Ecosystem
- Applied Media and Global Visibility Ecosystem
- Sustainability and Social Impact Ecosystem
These seven ecosystems are strengthened by Artificial Intelligence as a Strategic Enabler, enabling continuous transformation in education, governance, innovation, media, industry collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.
Among these strategic priorities, Global Employability has become one of the defining characteristics of the Vocational School. Through industry collaboration, professional certification, international partnerships, foreign language development, and global career initiatives such as Voca Migrant Corner (VMC), the Vocational School prepares graduates who are not only ready to work in Indonesia but are also capable of contributing to an increasingly interconnected global workforce.
Guided by the spirit of “Vocational Skills to Real-World Impact,” the Vocational School of Diponegoro University continuously expands its contributions by producing highly qualified graduates, strengthening strategic partnerships, advancing applied research and innovation, and reinforcing its transformation as a World-Class Vocational School committed to creating meaningful and sustainable impact for industry, society, and the world.
Global Perspective
Around the world, vocational education is evolving beyond skills-based training toward integrated ecosystems that combine education, industry, applied research, innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and digital transformation. Artificial Intelligence is increasingly being adopted to enhance teaching and learning, competency development, student services, institutional governance, and evidence-based decision-making.
Today, world-class vocational institutions are no longer recognized solely for the quality of their educational processes, but also for their ability to generate Real-World Impact through applied research, industry engagement, innovation, global talent development, and meaningful contributions to society.
Within this global context, the Vocational School of Diponegoro University views Artificial Intelligence not as the ultimate goal, but as a Strategic Enabler that strengthens people, innovation, and collaboration.
In strengthening its transformation as a World-Class Vocational School, the Vocational School develops the Vocational Excellence Ecosystem 2030, supported by Artificial Intelligence as a Strategic Enabler, to create Real-World Impact through Applied Research, Industry Engagement, Global Employability, Sustainability, Character Development, and Innovation. Through this integrated approach, the Vocational School is committed to delivering tangible value for industry, business, society, and sustainable development at both the national and global levels.
