The Vocational School of Diponegoro University, Semarang held the 5th Summer School program which was held from July 5 to July 18, 2021 with the theme “Overcoming Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Indonesia Economic, Tourism & Industry”. This event was held with the aim of trying to build relationships with international students from various universities. With a total of 40 participants, this event was attended by participants not only from Indonesia, but also from other countries. For example Tanzania, Malaysia, Gambia, Pakistan, and several other countries. On Monday, July 5, 2021, the VIP Summer School was officially opened by the Dean of the Vocational School followed by remarks from the Deputy Chairperson of the International Office of Diponegoro University. The participants received materials with very interesting topics and very relevant to the state of Indonesia during the current pandemic. Through this program, practitioners, experts, and students can share knowledge, knowledge and experience.

In this activity, discussions about Indonesia in facing a pandemic with the industrial, economic, and tourism sectors have an important role for survival in Indonesia. The challenges and new normal strategies carried out by Indonesia and other countries were also discussed together. Through this Summer School, the Vocational School of Diponegoro University hopes to get input and also create strong relationships and collaborations with students as future leaders. Students can also see how the situation in Indonesia is as well as references to the condition of tourism in Indonesia in this new normal era which is represented by the City of Semarang during the Virtual Tour. In addition, there is also a Group Discussion Forum on challenges and overcoming the impact of this pandemic in terms of industry, tourism, and the economy. The discussions were also based on experiences and comparisons from Indonesia and the countries of origin of each participant. There is also a project that serves to apply and expand on what has been learned during this course. Summer School activities will end on July 18, 2021 which will be closed with a VIP Summer School closing event. However, as a closing there will be an appearance from each participant who represents his country called a virtual concert. It was held as a hands-on experience for cross-cultural understanding.
