Four 5th semester Library Science Study Program students underwent Job Training activities at Digilib Vocational School UNDIP. This activity is carried out over 35 days, from 27 December 2023 to 16 February 2024. Job Training is organized by the Diponegoro University Library Science study program, which is also part of the mandatory curriculum. This program is essential to carry out with the aim of training students’ abilities to apply academic knowledge to a practical work environment. Students carry out various activities during their internship, including processing, service, and library branding.
In processing activities, students carry out book bibliographic data input activities into the system, classification, cataloging, and shelving (arranging and placing books on shelves according to the classification system). They are also responsible for printing membership cards and uploading Student Final Assignment collections to the Repository. In the service section, students also serve users to meet their needs, such as checking plagiarism and grammar. Furthermore, they also help manage social media by creating exciting content as a library branding effort.
This group of students also collaborated with Digilib SV librarians in organizing User Education activities. This activity is an innovation program carried out by students to provide knowledge about Digilib SV in general, its services, and how to use them for Vocational School students. This activity, packaged as a webinar, was carried out online on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, via teleconference media, which around 85 participants attended.
Digilib SV librarians welcomed this Job Training activity, “Job training students from the FIB Undip Library Science study program are very creative and innovative. “They have many ideas and innovations to help develop existing library services, such as repackaging information and optimizing library services to be more effective and efficient.” Said Oktavia as Digilib SV librarian. “Apart from that, we from the library also share a lot with them to increase our knowledge regarding libraries, especially information technology. “With the job training students, the Undip Vocational School Library will be more helpful in providing services to users and improving library branding by using information technology.” he continued.
